I found the discussion over the best way of representing negative and positive numbers interesting.  I found it interesting that you could flip the digits in two's complement and add 1 to get the negative version of the number.  It was also amazing that this system satisfies properties of comparison such as greater than or less than for even and positive numbers and that the numbers add just like normal addition.
