Answer from cs61c-ah (Charles Lee 16102343) for Question 3 I don't think there are java equivalents to malloc and free so much. You can allocate memory by making new objects, but java does that automatically for you. Instead of having to "free" like in C, Java has automatic garbage collection. These things are nice but probably come at a cost in processing power, explaining why C doesn't come standard with them. Humans can also probably do it better than the computer anyway.
