Answer from cs61c-av (Kenneth Wong 16192104) for Question 2 C's statments in making decisions are if/else, while, do while, and switch. They use many conditionals like <, <=, >, >=, ==, !=. MIPS only has a few statemnts that combines an if with equals conditional, not equals conditional, and less than conditional (beq, bne, slt). Designers of MIPS chose fewer statements for making decisions because MIPS was designed for simplicity and regularity in order to increase speed. With more commands, it totally defeats the purpose and design of MIPS.
