Nothing's really bad.  At first i was confused because a lot of the MIPS commands could actually be made with a bunch of other MIPS commands.  It seemed like it contradicted RISC philosophy.  But my TA told me that they were actually not really there, but in fact translated later into the more simple MIPS commands.  This really bothered me.
