Your Answer for Question 1:
Didn't see this in the reading, but my best guess is that some kind of hacker could access certain parts of memory that he/she should not be accessing. You could type and restrict the data at hand so you could monitor what was going on ( like java does) but it would be slower.

Didn't see this in the reading either or the index. I'm guessing it has to do with floating point arithmetic?

The lack of a guard digit causes rounding errors.

For: other people can program stuff for your co-processor, and it will be compatible with existing software.

Against: you could make a really fast and good processor like the crays
