Only if you give it the correct money or more will it give you a soda. Each coin advances towards the soda in states. 

Washing machine cycles. 
It will first add water, wash, rinse and then spin. These are the different states in the machine.

Automatic landing.
The plane has to go through different stages of landing and execute landing procedures accordingly.
