By allocating pages in fixed-sized chunks it becomes convenient because it eliminates the need to find a specific contiguous block of physical memory.  Bigger chunks are good because more of the data will be held right next to each other, eliminating the need to put themin different noncontiguious spots.  Smaller chunks would be good because it would be easier to find smaller chunks to put in a PA.
